Been tearing my hair out for weeks about getting a new monitor and whether to try for a 27" 120+ hz TN panel or a high res IPS 1440p

I've become impatient and am currently hovering over the buy button for a 1440p... one last straw poll though: I play BF3, ME3, rpgs and assorted strategy games - will my single gtx 670 suffice for roughly 60fps at this res?

rather than bother pcm2 with more questinos it's now straw poll time, yes/no :D

I have a gtx 670 and a 1440p screen, and it can max out ME3 no problem, I don't have bf3 but from reading around I doubt you will get 60fps, you will need a multi card setup for that I think. Games I've played lately such as tomb raider and bioshock infinite have run on my screen well but not maxed out. Tomb raider for example gives me around 30-50fps all settings on ultra with fxaa on and depth of field off. Bioshock runs fine but for some reason stutters for a split second and slows down to a halt, possibly a vram issue as 2gb these days is not enought especially at 1440p.

If I were you though I would take 1440p simply because it is a thing of beauty :D. Not tried 120hz thought, if your'e a gamer then perhaps 120hz is better for you.

The vast majority of games will run fine at 1440p, and you'll be able to play more intensive games at high-max settings with reduced AA.

My HD 7870 Tahiti LE can play Bioshock Infinite at 1440p on high/ultra and gets around 40FPS.

done.

Sorry Angerer..should have said, it's the Viewsonic VP2770-LED - there seems to be some inconsistency to one or more of the reviews but forum chatter seems to suggest this has one of the lower lag times of the 1440p screens.

The need for AA is greatly reduced at 2560x1440. If you reduce that you'll get decent performance. But you aren't going to get 60 FPS in all games.

No worries fella, had a little look around myself and It has lower Input lag then that of Asus PB278Q and has slightly better colours and no pwm dimming.

Very nice monitor, would love for you to make a review or maybe just post some pics on here for us all. Wouldn't mind getting this myself.

Cheers
