Hello,
I need a new case to fit my new motheboard (Gigabyte p35-DS3P) bought from Cob on the MM.

I was looking around the £40 but this is negotiable if the more expensive boards provide more bang for buck. I'm a medium level gamer and just need something quiet, cool and has space for air flow. I'm planning on fitting an Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-017-AR

So here are the contenders:

Akasa AK ZEN 01 £35.24 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-020-AK

Gigabyte GZ-X2 £34.09

XClio 6030 PLUS Black £34.24

I know that there are others such as the Coolermaster Centurion (£46.99) But I don't know if the extra money would be worth it.

Advice much appreciated thank you

Joe

Cant believe im saying this but I would take the XClio 6030 PLUS Black out of the three above :D

that 360mm side fan would definately help the temp :D

I have the Akasa Zen in white, great case, really pleased with it for the money, cooling is great and although the stock case fans aren't silent, they make much less noise than my x1950 pro, so they're not noticeable.

it probably would help temps but think about build quality. i dont know much about A+ cases but im assuming that the akasa would be far better and easier to work with.

The XClio's side fan would not help temps because the single 120mm exhaust fan could not exhaust the intaked air from the side fan at a quick enough rate. The effectiveness of airflow and fan size are two totally different things. Plus, it'd just be one hell of a dust magnet.

not if you have enough exaust fan to balance out the airflow ;) I always choose the case (or any other stuffs) based on its potential, not just how its at stock :p

Update: I didn't go for any of the above. I thought about what I wanted and decided that I might as well splash out a little so went for the ...... *Drum roll please*

Antec Nine Hundred :)

It's got great reviews and the airflow looks practical. Plus with the hard drive on the bottom of the case it'll be easier to arrange some easier wiring (my PSU is non-modular)

Thoughts? Criticisms? Anything else out there which is better for the money?

Yeah, but in the XClio's case, surely that means modding it? What's the point basically, just stick with a nice looking Lian Li PC7. Big fans do nothing if they're not properly positioned in the first place and are just there mostly to get people to go "WOW, BILLION DOLLAR FAN" = "MUST BUY!" when in fact, it makes no difference and makes the case look awful.

Sorry to hear you went for an Antec 900... If you want a cramped/dusty/a cable management nightmare case you have made the right choice...

to OP : if you dont mind using a dremel or some such tool , from what ive seen id recommend making the holes in the right places as soon as you get the case. it probably isnt your best bet dust wise but we have to respect his choice. hell my case isnt anything special but it does me. believe me it has some flaws .

anyway there is a antec 900 thread here somewhere with some pics on how to it is done.

here it is : http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17858303&highlight=antec+900

what would you suggest as an alternative? 75 is my limit not including p and p

for that sort of money I would look at Lian-li case, something along the line of PC7+ :)

p/s: you might also wanna check out the CM590/CM690 , very roomy with good airflow and build quality ;)
