Quick question before I pick my car up....

Passed my test on Sunday (yay!) and purchased a car through a private sale on Wednesday.

Going to pick it up on Friday (well, my dad is) and just wondering would I be able to drive it straight away?

The car's road tax expires in March 07 and the MOT in September 07. Will be purchasing the fully comp insurance online that evening too.

Is there anything else I've missed out?

Corsa Club 1.2 16v.

Done 53K miles but comes with a full service history. Car is in excellent condition and has been well looked after since 2000.

Not everyones cup of tea but it'll do me for a first car for one year at least.

As soon as you both have signed the owners document (known as the logbook, or V5 document) the car is yours. You must have the registration number to buy the online insurance - all quoters will ask you for it before it will let you finalise the policy.

You only need 3 things to be legal:

A current MOT cert
Road Tax
Insurance

You will have them all, have fun!

Wow! Guess it pays to shop around for insurance quotes.

Originally I was going to go for 3rd Party F&T and cheapest was £570.

Then I went to Tesco and got £710 (£300 excess)Fully comp.

Just when I though it couldn't go any lower, Direct Line have just quoted me £627.90 fully comp with £250 excess.

Me is very happy. :D

nope not true you need it for the tax not for the insurance,

He's not talking about the V5, he is talking about the actual registration number. Ive never seen an online quoter which will let you buy without a reg plate?
