Hey.

Im currently using my computer for gaming and feel its time for an upgrade after three years.

My current Set up is as follows:

Asus p5e
Ati 3870 x2
Ballistix 2GB ddr2
Q6600 2.4 Ghz
500GB WD hdd

I am thinking of buying these:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-087-MS

Would this be a viable upgrade and would i notice performance increased in gaming?

If its not worth buying these can you advise me on a purchase.

Also that been said when i have enough posts with the community, would i be able to sell my old stuff on the members market?

Kind Regards

Have you thought about overclocking your current cpu as the Q6600 is still a fairly good quad cpu.

Yes once you reach 250 posts you can stick your old items to sell.

PSU will be fine if you do choose to upgrade.

Well what is was, ive tried over clocking before but I believe it may have been unstable either due to my ram or my over clocking capabilities :P

I didn't want to buy a GPU and then for it to be bottle necked so that's why I instantly thought of the OC over clocked bundles.

well if you want to buy it, then do.

it will be very fast and a GTX480 will destroy your 3870X2

If I were you, I would add more RAM. Q6600 seems like it should be fine at the moment.
I would probably wait to see what ATI 6000 series are like before buying a GTX480. It's probably going to surpass 480 in terms of performance, efficiency and heat.

Has they been a confirmation of a date for the 6000 series please? I heard a little while go that it would be Q4 2010

Stick with the Q6600 and set the fsb to 333. U will get a decent boost and not have to mess with anyother settings in most instances.

Then get the card you want & get 2x2g ram and sell the old stuff on.

iirc this months 6series wont surpass the gtx470 as the ones coming out his month are the lower end and that higher end are coming out on nnovember-ish.
just wait and see if the prices of gtx480s go down once the first 6series come out.

What RAM would you recommend please for DDR2, in all fairness i would like a new pair to get it bumped up to 4GB.
