Quick question: Can I add an passive subwoofer to my existing setup?

I have acquired an passive sub woofer and I want to add it to my existing home cinema setup.

I have a Denon AVR-X1700H (https://www.denon.com/en-gb/product/av-receivers/avr-x1700h/AVRX1700HGB.html)

I already have an active sub setup running 5.1.2 setup. I was wondering can I use it for 5.2.2 setup? If so how would I connect it up as it has the following connection?

Having a further read on google, I was also given an external amp. Would it be best recommended to have this connected up and then it hooks up to my main AV amp?

You have no way of setting the EQ and delays for both subs, you might find yourself in a position in which the bass is worse than when you started, particularly if the subs are of a different design.

In summary, its probably not worth the effort.

Yes you can. Whether it's worth doing it (will need an amplifier)

If you had a SCS CS Ultra passive, then yeah...but a budget model? Also you want to have identical subs.

No both subs I have are not identical. I do have a separate amplifier.
So I best leaving it then?

Yeah. Just buy another sub that is identical to yours.
