Which processor tends to have the lower stock/overclocking temperatures, out of the 17 920 D0, Phenom 720 II (black edition) and the Phenom II
955 (black edition). Many thanks.

Sorry I probably didn't make myself clear. I was just wondering if i7s tend to have a marked increase in temperature when running at idel and load, when compared to the Phenom IIs (assuming that they were using the same cooler, case etc.)

Many thanks for any help.

I'm not sure about idle temps but under load i7 will definitely run hotter unless you disable Hyperthreading technology, with Phenom parts of each core will be idle even when under full load, Hyperthreading on i7 harnesses those idle areas so that as much of the core is being used as possible, more work = more heat.
