Quick Question: Connecting CPU fan to a fan controller

Just a quick question about doing the above. Can I connect the 3 pin direct to the fan controller? Does anything need to be connected to the mother board CPU fan header? I vaguelly remember a mate having some issues with his board not posting unless something was connected to it.

either turn off the cpu fan sensor in the bios or just connect a case fan to it

+1 to jak. I ran a true without a fan for ages, just told the bios to ignore the cpu fan and it stopped complaining on boot

The CPU fan works perfectly with the controller Well chuffed

. My case fans don't however

. They have a molex connecter which has to be connected in order for them to work and a 3 pin connecter with only one wire. When I connect them to the controller they spin but I can't control the speed. Any Ideas?
