As subject. I currently have an E6600 on a GA-965-DS4 motherboard that's a year old. I've bought a new Q6600 and an Asus P5K Pro board.

I want to overclock the Q6600 to around 3.5+ if I can get it ;) I'm not too fussed about clocking the E6600.

The cooling/power regulation looks a bit better on the older gigabyte but which is going to be the best platform for the Q6600 chip?

The P5K for sure. It uses the newer P35 chipset, which is better in many respects than the older 956 chipset on the Gigabyte board.

I had a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3P and got then upgraded to a Q6600 G0. I was hoping it would let me clock it to the same sort of speed that you want but it topped out at 3.2Ghz, which isn't to be sniffed at, but i was a little dissapointed. I then got my P5E and hit 3.8Ghz. I think it would be worth seeing what you can get with your current board first. Then if you can't get as high as you want get the P5K.
