On the road....
Hi, I have a Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939 mobo.

I've just bought 2GB of OC/UK Value DDR 400 RAM.

I also have 2x256MB DDR 400 Geil RAM.

Should the two Oc/Uk sticks go in one pair of coloured sockets & the geil in the other? one in each? or does it not matter?

Thanks!

(Can't find the manual and the pdf is downloading @ 1kb/sec atm! )

ocuk ram in 1 pair , geil ram in another will probably be best, so only identical ram is in dual channel, if any of the timings are lower than the others, all ram will be slowed down to the slowest ram's speed but it should be fine.

Thanks -I did'nt want to blow it all up by getting it wrong! :o

Now getting lockups when gaming (BF2) which I did'nt get prior to the new RAM, any ideas chaps?

The memory controller is in the CPU for 939 boards.

Usually you have to slow down the memory speed to 333 (pc2700) to get four dimms to work properly. Not much or a handicap for an A64 though.

Have yopu tried with just the 2Gb?

Are you running the memory at 1t command rate? if so drop it to 2t

Are you running the BIOS with spread spectrum enabled - if so disable it.
