I believe you have up to 15 days "grace" period for such things...

...you will be fine :)

There is NO grace for not having tax.

However if you've purchased online you get time for it to be delivered but only if you've already got Tax. So as long as its uninterrupted.

should have also stated car is currently sorned for the past month and bit :(

Ill just have a circle of driving the mara ffs

Try reading your link before using it to support an incorrect argument :p

For renewals, this extended period will only apply when your application to renew your tax disc is made before the previous one expires.

So no, you have no 'grace' period at all if at 00:01 on the 1st you've not applied for a tax disc and need to get one.

Isn't failure to display a valid disc still an offense, even if you have paid?

That's where the grace period comes in. IF you've already bought the disc and are just waiting for it to arrive AND if the car was taxed for the previous month.

Failure to display (when not in the exemption above) is £50 non endorsable ticket I believe.

The grace period (for non display) is only valid if you have applied for the new tax disc prior to your current one running out. If the vehicle is SORN there is no grace period for non display.

By all means tax the vehicle online and drive it about without displaying the disc in the windscreen, however do so knowing you could be liable for a fine for failure to display which is something like £60.00 but not endorseable.

You are very unlikely to receive a fine but it is possible.
