quick question on compatibility

Was you running the integrated gpu?

The 5770 is a lower range card I would have though it would have worked, can you test the card in another machine, also check the BIOS revision.

nope im using an old ati x700.

im going to try it on my friends pc later. ... how do you check the BIOS revision lol

edit: the fan dosnt even move when i have the 5770 in does that mean the cards dead?..

Have you connected the 6 pin power connector from the PSU?

ooh thats what that was, so not only is it jumbo size its also got its own power connecter?

could you tell me how/where to connect it? because i cant see anywhere to connect either side

What is the make model of the PSU being used, you should have a 6 pin lead coming from the PSU.

Also did your gpu come with any adapters in the box.

Totally forgot the 5770 had a external power!! :(

bahh i had a feeling i shouldnt have skimped out on the psu :( i got an unbranded one for a tenner haha its got 1 6pin lead into the harddrive i think. Im going to have a look for my old psu that one was better and i cant remember why i replaced it :l

there is a balck and yellow lead in the box, its got a 6pin head like in the link you sent and a 3 or 4 pin head on the other side. Its got room for 4 pins but the last pin is not there if you know what i mean

Connect the 4 pin (only 3 used) to a spare molex coming from the PSU and connect the other to your GPU.

This. Don't worry about the molex cables only having 3 pins either, that's totally normal. In fact, that adapter is there for exactly this reason. :)

thanks guys found the right leads and got it working .. ish, i got another case of raving monitor:http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=18907603#post18907603

i had this problem with the last card i used which was a nvidia430 so i went back to an older card, saved up and got the 5770 and its started again:l

with the ati x700(the one i got in now) it flickers time to time but when i had the 5770 in everything was tinted blue and it switched on and off then after i logged in the screen went black. oh and when i started the pc with the x700 in just now it had the blue tint until i logged on.

edit: should i make a new thread or something? :/
