Hi all, shall make this brief if i can:

had a flat renovation over the summer. Bought a brand new kitchen through a registered builder from Selco (builder's merchant). Turns out the dishwasher was DOA. We didn't realise this until approx 1 month after initial purchase, given that things weren't immediately put together.

Once fault was noticed i contacted the manufacturer of the dishwasher who sent someone out to repair it.

I had to wait two weeks for this.

Guy turned up. Couldn't fix it. Said they'd have to order parts.

I waited a few days and phoned the manufacturer who say parts may take at least 3 weeks to arrive.

Needless to say i'm not happy about at all this delay. Do i have 'consumer rights' to demand a refund or replacement from Selco for the item? Or do i need to wait for the repair?

Many thanks folks.

Normally you'd be expected to give them "reasonable" time to remedy the situation - which is usually considered ~28 days.

No harm trying to push them for a replacement though.

Not sure if time taken to repair counts for anything I can't find any specifics on it.

Its where the loose definition of "reasonable" comes in - if they have to order parts it would stretch it out a bit more before you could reasonably expect a refund or replacement.
