hi guys, just need a quick answer please.

i currently own a sandwich shop.

buisness isnt that good at the minute so we are thinking of putting some display cabinets in the front of the shop and start selling the odd electrical items and buy and sell them.

i.e, laptops, phones, sat navs, components ect ect.

i currently have a A1 licence on my shop which is retail only.

am i alloweed to do this under the licence aswell as being sandwich shop ?, as the licence dosnt state what can be sold and what can't.

just need a quick answer please.

thank you.

I'm not sure on the answer but I'd say it's quite an odd place to be buying electrical items from?

Will you be able to compete with big electrical stores on price or are you hoping to cash in on impulse?

Considering the cost difference between the two items and what people come to your shop for I just don't see the logic.

im not going to be selling 'new' but will be on the odd occasion.

it will mainly be second hand buying and selling.

i have done it in the past as a side job, and did make a lot from it.

my idea was to put 3 or 4 display cabinets in the shop, with some items in, other items that i buy to sell privatly on the bay, gumtree, etc etc.

i know its odd, and will be odd to see a sandwich shop selling electrical items aswell lol.

but im just thinking of making a few extra quid, as things are getting tight.

so my question is, can i sell electrical items under the same licence "A1" as the sandwich shop.. under the same roof.

not loads, but a few items.

maybe it might be worth while closing the sandwich shop and going a full on second hand shop.

but that i cant answer, and cant afford to take the risk at the moment.

Who.is going to buy electronic goods from a sandwich shop? Seriously

Focus on things to sell with the sandwiches, coffee for example

its a funny old world.

and you think i just sell sandwiches ?, cmon man.. think about it.

i sell everything from crisps, right down to bacon sarnis.

as its only a A1 licence, we are only allowed to sell 20% hot food under that licence, which holds us back aswell.

we did apply for a A3 licence, which is restaurant and cafe.

but got declined as we are not big enough apparently.

Will cash converters start selling bacon sarnies?? WE CAN ONLY HOPE !!!

Call trading standards or local council on Monday morning.

You sell what you want. Its your shop. Good luck with all the crap that people will give you bringing back your 2nd hand tut.

Surely this is a troll?

Sounds like a terrible idea - I wouldnt buy any electrical stuff from a sandwich shop if it was cheaper than other places, simply because I would not trust it being a...sandwich shop..not an electronic shop! Funny guy.

It's not so much buying electricals from a sandwich shop but rather the other way around. Just seems and I suppose will look unhygienic to most customers.

Do you do deliveries? Places of work can bring in good money, I had a sandwich round franchise last year driving a jiffy truck around offices and factories. If you can build it up you can be looking at an extra 2k per week turnover, You already have the shop to prepare food so are half way there, you just need a small van or jiffy truck.

Maybe you ought to think about finding a better location? Surely you're better off looking at who your main target market should be in whatever area you're in and thinking what else you can do to target them....

Cheap lunch deals if its mostly students.... pasties for builders (maybe think about a fruit machine if its mostly people like that coming in)... super foods-salads, smoothies etc.. for female office workers...

Dunno - I don't know anything about running a sandwich shop, but I do know that that business is quite competitive and the ones that seem to do well where I go for lunch most days tend to concentrate on one particular area... I'm not quite sure that taking up shop space to stick random electrical goods in the windows will do you much good.

Ice cream machine in summer might work - dunno.... tis supposedly fairly high margin... as are smoothies.
