Iv just fitted one of these an iv never fitted a 3rd party cooler before.

Iv just a little confused which way it was meant to go as it seamed it would work with the fan facing upwards & downwards, iv put it facing upwards.

My temps do seam ok staying around 16-24c even when playing some some crappy facebook games that used to make my cpu hit temps of 60-80c at times. Not sure if it the new cooler or the Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound im using or a bit of both.

I know the true test will be when i do some encoding or play some real games as to if it will keep the CPU cool.

But at this stage im just wondering if i was right to put the cooler facing upwards?

Thanks

When you say facing upwards do you mean the fans face is pointing to the top of the case so it is blowing air downwards?

If so that isn't ideal.

What CPU are you using? Regardless of the CPU and wether the cooler has been positioned correctly or not though, 16-24c are decent temps at semi-idle I'd have thought.

Hi tazzfalcon

Yeah I do mean the fans face are pointing upwards. so i guess thinking about it, it means it blowing warm air across the rest of the system. :(

My CPU is a AMD Phenom II x3 720

Im tempted to leave it the way it is now, as the temps seam to be ok. but i guess i could always change it around if needed.

Yeah that's fair enough. I'd stress test it with prime95 or something to see what the temps do after a while but it seems fundamentally cool. If you've a hot running big gpu directly beneath though it would be worth changing.

No big gpu still running onboard gpu at the mo. A new gpu is next on my list when i have some more spare £'s.

il give prime95 a run for 30mins or so, think that should give me a rough idea of what temps will be like.

If you dont think 30mins will be enough let me know how long you think it should be done for & il do next week as working most of the weekend
