Am I right in thinking that if I buy this I can use one of my 360's controllers on my PC via USB?

I need to get a second USB gamepad for the PC but thought this might be a good way to make use of something I already have :)

If you can find some drivers then yes. Can't see why not, I can use my old xbox pad on my PC after I modded the connector by changing it to USB and downloaded the HID driver :)

Cant be done, the PnC kit sends no data through it, its purely for charging the battery pack.

Even when you are charging it on the 360, its still communicating wirelessly.

Are you sure? I plugged mine into the PC with the plug and play kit and windows asked for drivers.
Wireless ones you definately can't yet, as the Play + Charge kit does not send any sort of data down the cable, it's just there for charging, the controller still maintains its wireless connection.

Microsoft shoud be bringing out a Wireless dongle for the 360 wireless pads in the coming months I believe.

Damn, seemed like the perfect solution as well! :(

Guess I better just get a cheap USB adapter for my PS2 controller for the time being then.

Thanks for the replies :)

Hmm, that's strange. Wonder what windows detected then? the play and charge kit I suppose?

What did it say when it detected something? Just new hardware found? As i'd have though sticking any sort of USB thingy in will cause windows to say or think something.

Yep, pretty much.. if you could plug a fork into a USB port with windows XP it would say new hardware found.*

*dont

Just want to confirm, the charge cable carries absolutely no data. Windows detects something drawing power and decides to try and work out what it is, hence the hardware wizard.

Microsoft are to release a wireless dongle for the PC at some point (I think before Christmas) to allow the wireless pads to work wirelessly on a PC.

Are you sure it sends no data? Reason is because when you turn on the 360 by the main button on the console the wireless pad will not turn on unless you press the guide button right? When the play and charge kit is in, the pad will turn on with the console. :p

Anyway, the play and charge kit will not allow the wireless pad to work on PC as I tried it ages ago.

And you don't think voltage up your rear would wake you up???

It has been confirmed numerous times that the charge cable sends nothing but power.
