Quick Question please - X360 - RED LIGHTS!!!

Hi all

Sorry - to ask about this common issue.

My friend has just told me he's getting the 3 Red Lights on his 360.

However, he bought it 2nd hand so thinks it's already been opened or possibly modded at some stage.

Will Microsoft - Still carry out the repair under the 3 year warranty for 3 red light issue?

There is a warrenty sticker under the faceplate usually.

Ive sent mine back without one, and had it repaired no problem.

You shouldn't have any problems provided the console isn't registered to the previous owner.

I think they'd probably notice in that.

Where did you're friend buy it second hand? From a retailer or just off of someone?

I've sent one back that's been opened up, and I know of many people who have. They just repair and send them back 90% of the time.

As said warranty sticker under the faceplate and there is also a strip of metal tape by the DVD drive holding it to the chassis. Im debating sending mine back as both these are broken on mine, plus theres some damage to the case where I threw it at the metal frame of my bed

My 360 was modded, I got the 3 lights and sent it back, in about 10 days I got a parcel, a new replacement console not my original one with a month of live.

Did this myself. Completely tore the system apart removed the heatsinks and thermal paste and applied some arctic silver. Got rid of the rubbish x-clamps and replaced it all with better screws, nylon and spring washers. Also installed the 12v fan mod so it all runs nice and cool.

Stopped my motherboard being shorted by the old clamps and also being bent out of shape. Reseating the heatsinks also gives even pressure across the chip surfaces.

No more RRoD for my old Xbox
