my cousin is getting a new pc. 2 quick questions. for, under £90, what is the best graphics card he could get. secondly, he has a 300w psu, would this enough to run a 7600gt. thanks guys. hes in a rush to order

im a bit confused with the other cards. not including the 8800series, are the 1950's better than the 7900's. as a general rule, can i take it that the performance from the cards increase with their numbers if that makes sense

Can't really compare just on model names, you have to look at benchmarks and reviews, this is a start (but don't rely on it alone and look closely at the settings they use):

You didn't answer the guy aboves question that I can see, is he looking for PCI-E(xpress) or AGP? Unless he has one of very few motherboards that can use both your at high risk of buying the wrong card (and getting the blame) if you don't get him to check this!

What is the processor/RAM in his rig? Any ideas on games he plays and at what resolution/detail levels?

Can't comment on whether the PSU can cope without knowing the strength of the +12v rails, if you aren't aware of this: wattage isn't a reliable indicator as some 300 Watt PSUs (or any wattage for that matter) are A LOT more powerful than others. As a general rule a generic 300 Watt PSU would not be able to handle an X1950 Pro which rules it out immediately and depending on quality may not be able to deal with a 7600 GT either.

thanks guys. hes in a rush to order
Don't let him get carried away/impatient and go buy an X1300/7300GS 512MB or something, make him do the research to get something worthwhile, that will work in his rig :P
