Quick Question Re CPU Upgrade

In my old system it has a Gigabyte GA-8I945GZME-RH at present with an Intel E2220 but have recently upgraded my other PC so have an Intel E6420 going spare .....

Would it be worth upgrading the CPU or would I not really notice any difference?

if both are at the same speed, the e6420 should be faster with its higher cache, so i would say yes

Only difference is the motherboard would only be able to run the e6420 at 800mhz instead of 1066mhz and motherboard cant over clock either...

You could always sell one of the chips and invest in a better motherboard. It would only be £50 for one that would be able to run that 6420. ATM, you won't be able to run the 6420.

well why have a newer cpu lying about and use an older one....

the motherboard will run the e6420 have checked with cpu list specs etc....and my thoughts exactly as above newer cpu ...was thinkin the same myself but just thought I would ask for advice first guys.....

Suppose my question is what actual effect does running the e6420 at 800mhz have...as oppose to running it at the correct 1066mhz...?
