I have a student at work whos brother is facing a loss of license due to this act. He passed on the 26th of November 2007 and got 3 points in March last year for 56 in a 50 via mobile speed camera. Unfortunately he got done by a speed camera on the 28th of November 2009, bang on 50 in a 40 as he missed a limit change and thought it was 50, his fault. I know it seems that two years have passed, but his license says 'issued' on 2nd Dec 2007. When and if he gets the 3 points (hoping its a dummy or out of film for his sake) will he lose his license and be put back to provisional status? Does the 2 years start from the day you pass or the 'issue' date on the license?

The 2 years starts from your pass date on the certificate, as my licence has a later date than my actual pass certificate

If so hes lucky then, the offence happend two days after the 2 year probation :) Cheers for the replies, guess this'll make a good holiday gift eh? :D

Also I assume the date of offence is less relevant than the date of conviction. That is how the normal point accumulation works. I had a rather careless colleague who managed to delay a case for 3 months while waiting for the first of his points to expire.

+1

It's the date of conviction that he needs to go by.

By the time he gets the points applied, it will be beyond 2 years, which of the following is true:

- You now have 6 points on your licence, each set of 3 dated to the offence, but you now have a limit of 12, carry on.

- During your 1st 2 years, you technically accrued 6 points, try again.
