Kepler will be manufactured using a 28nm process technology and provide users up to four times the double-precision floating point performance per watt of NVIDIA's current-generation Fermi GPU architecture, which is the foundation of the GeForce 400 series.
Jen-Hsun Huang states that hundreds of engineers are working on the next generation GPU, and when completed, over $2 billion dollars will have been spent on the R&D of Kepler.
Even if it has been announced what difference would it make?
I mean Fermi was 6 months late...
Was just wondering with regards to the resale value of the 480s really. If they've only got a refresh coming, and the 6970 rumoured to be only slightly better than the 480 then it should hold its value pretty well I imagine. I remember the 285s selling for around £300 up until the release of Fermi! lol Impossible to predict what will happen this time though I know.
Mid 2012 would suit me fine!![]()
I think with 2 480s you wont have to buy a new card/cards for a long time![]()
Anyone know when nVidia are 'claiming' their next gen release will be? Not interested in the 475/485s. In fact, has it even been announced at all?
You have 480 SLI & yet you have next gen on your mind..shakes head.
Some people just can't resist buying the latest tech. It's their money.
It's simply wisdom from being in this position before many times. Sell up before the next gen comes and either get the new one or repurchase the old one. Been doing for years and it means you actually pay a lot less in addition to always having newer hardware.
If you buy only once every few years then by the time you come to sell on your old stuff is practically worthless. Sell and buy regularly and you see relatively little price difference between what you paid and what you receive.
Yes it is worthless by the time i sell but i don't care as i have had a more stable platform for longer & my friends get cheap but capable upgrades.
I'm sure when they move from 3870-CF to a 5970x2 4GB that they will be pleased as always.
It's not that, although I certainly do like it!
As stated in my previous post, it's more about a balance of staying relatively up-to-date and never having to spend so much in one go.
You like nice cars. I know a great dealership.![]()
Really a need for shaking your head then mate?
It's very admirable of you to be so charitable with your friends but that's not for everyone. Heck, I don't even have any mates into PC gaming!![]()
