Quick question regarding refunds...

I purchased an item as a present for a family member from a supermarket chain. The item is sadly a duplicate gift. The item is Unopened and still has the receipt. However the item was purchased 11 days ago and the item has since been reduced significantly.

The store is now closed and I am planning to return the product tomorrow for a refund.

The question is, will I receive the full amount paid or the current advertised price?

Thanks.

You have no legal entitlement to a refund at all, so the answer will rest entirely with the policy of the individual retailer.

I suspect it'll be the amount paid, though.

pretty much, go in with a good attitude and most big chains are ok with stuff like this but remember you have no legal rights

They would only refund you the reduced price if you were unable to provide proof of purchase, such as a receipt. As you have the receipt, you can expect the full amount back that you paid them should they decide to refund you.

Most stores will give you at least 14 days to change your mind, and as you've got your receipt there won't be a problem; you'll get a full refund.

It'll be what you paid.

I remember years ago I bought a PS3 on launch day, think it was £425.

It broke like a year down the line and too it back to asda.

They didnt have the 60gb anymore to replace it with so they gave me a 40gb. They also refunded me the difference between the 60gb and the 40gb, think it was £100. That was an amazing day.

Some stores will only refund you with vouchers/Gift Cards that you can only use in one there own stores...:(

Sports direct & burtons is two places I know of that does this but there are many others.

That's totally legal, but I suggest people reward the retailers that do more than the minimum by not buying from the ones that only do what they have to.
