I've taken a video using fraps (sorry I don't know what video format it is), and I want to show this to my tutor, however he only has windows media player (11 i think) installed, without any codecs so it wont play. What can I convert the video to so it will play on the bog standard wmp?

Alternatively I have a 1GB usb stick which I could install something on and run it from there. I tried vlc but it doesn't play, probably because the stick is not fast enough to play the video.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

could use the windows movie make

i think fraps records in raw avi, which would be wasting lot of space

windows movie maker only saves to wmv i think, wmv i what media player's format is

You may also want to consider converting the file to an flv or swf flash movie which can be inserted to webpages. Real producer Basic also converts file like to rv (real video) which also can be used on the web, without extra codecs. If you are simply popping on a pen drive, then Movie maker would be best.
