QUICK QUESTION: VRAM

Does having two 1024MB cards in SLI give you 2048MB of VRAM, or as I suspect you still only have 1024MB?

SLI or Crossfire only gives the VRAM of one card.

Only 1gb effective. Each 1gb stores the same data over both cards so each core can have a fast cache of textures etc. Really inefficient I know..

The way CrossFire/Sli works, each card needs it's own vram to produce each frame.

Some applications do show it as double the VRAM, but it is correct as has been pointed out that the VRAM form the secondary card is just mirrored from the primary. So you could say that you do in actual fact have 2GB VRAM as physically that is what you have, but effectively games can only use the 1GB.
