Hi. Getting a iPhone 3GS 16 GB black unlocked off of a friend for £100

I do not need it really as a phone as I have a Blackberry.

I mainly want is just as a gadget in the house, remote for XBMC etc.

BUT seeing as it is a 'phone' as well.

I may as well throw a 'Pay as you go' SIM in it.

But I know nothing about which ones to go for etc. I do not plan on using it really as a phone. But which one/network etc should I go for.

I do not (must stress) want to pay a lot for the sim + credit.

Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Thank you

GiffGaff for 20 quid Goody bag gets you 1200 minutes, Unlimited Text & Unlimited data & Unlimited calls to other GiffGaff users.

Beat that & I'll post a pic of me in a dress. :p

Yes mate the Goodybags are for a month. You can get other goodybags, £5, £10 £15 etc

That's a goodybag, far from PAYG. One month and it's gone, and there isn't credit left over (you are purchasing the goodybag).

This said, giffgaff still is probably your best bet. Maybe Ovivo is worth looking into, but I can't claim to know anything about them.

How is it not PAYG, I am confuse ? + :p

I top up 20 quid online & I get the above stuffs to be used within a month, I Pay then I go spank my phone. :p
Pay as you spank then ?

You aren't really topping up though. It's closer to a one-month rolling contract as you are paying for a package, as opposed to paying for the service as you go (paying per minute, per text, per...go!).

The good thing is that you get that flexibility with giffgaff; I can't really think of another mobile network that offers anything similar (mediocre "free" top-up bonuses aside). Well, that's the theory, their payment system is still horrifically unreliable...!

Tesco is another that comes to mind actually, last time I checked they were offering a good deal. This said, if you are sticking a PAYG SIM in it and will likely not do anything more than a text or two per month, the deals are not really worth considering, you might as well look at who offers the lowest price per minute, text, etc.

Sod the giffgaff goodybags on your very low usage, just go with the airtime credit payg.

Top up £10 credit, don't buy a goodybag and off you go.
10p/min calls
6p/text
Upto 20mb internet a day for 20p/day over that it's very expensive.
Free calls to other giffgaff users (top up every 3 months)
Credit doesn't expire
FREE 0800, 0808, 0500 calls

I used payg for a while and it was fine for my light use.
I changed to a goodybag as I was hammering the data and useing payg was getting close to the £10 the goodybag would cost.

Lots of people have problems with the billing, but I've just got for buying a goodybag just before my current one runs out. Seems to work fine and no problems with missed automatic top ups.

giffgaff runs on the O2 network so check you get reception with them first!

I've moved to Three and think thery''re brilliant to be honest. I'm on a rolling contract, but it's only about £12 a month. From memory I get 300 mins, 500 texts, and unlimited internet. The 3G coverage is also very good with good speeds.

Have you considered Ovivo? £15 one-off payment, then as long as you top up once a year you get 150 mins, 200 texts and 500MB every month at no cost, plus the £15 initial credit.

How about Ovivo? You pay £15 for the sim, but you get that back as credit.

Every month you get 150 mins 200 text and 500mb data. They use the Vodafone network.

Best part is you will never have to top up. You'll get your free allowence every month.

That Ovivo looks really good for low usage! I was going to go for a cheap £8.50 24 month contract (and sell the phone) for same minutes, same internet and 5000 texts, but I looked at my usage and 200 texts a month should be fine! Glad I saw this!

Is there anything on the internet usage? Like only 25MB a day max or something?
