I have a licensed Windows version of Microsoft Office, can I use it on my Mac when I get it? If so, do I just put in my serial number in the trial somewhere? Or do I need to download a .dmg of it from somewhere?

No I'd rather use something else tbh, after looking around a bit I have read that Office for mac is quite slow and lags a bit.

Yes, 2004 is a bit clunky on my C2D iMac, although upgrading to 2GB of ram hellped. I'll be purchasing 2008 when it comes out (Q3 this year apparently). Good old Microsoft Home Use Program at work means it should only cost about £17. :)

Not overly fussed on the Office 2008 UI to be honest :(

If you're after a really nice OS X-friendly suite look in to OpenOffice's roadmap.

What is OpenOffice.org Aqua port /Native ( without X11 ) port ?

Starting in October 2005, there has been an effort to revive the direct native port of OpenOffice.org for Mac OS X. In Jan 2006 this effort was at its first stages.

Current status is : Top 10 of issues before public alpha version. Alph means not complete, but already functional. The missing features will be progressively implemented, depending on resources.

NeoOffice is fine until then though ;)

Another question: I have a Photoshop CS2 license and want to use it on my Mac, how do I install, it the CD I have is only a .exe afaik.

That will be the Windows version, the license and media are for a particular platform only, it's not a cross platform license.

Adobe do offer what they call the Xplatform procedure that allows you to basically trade in your Windows license and get a Mac one. The only downside to this is you have to go to the latest version and pay the upgrade cost+postage, and once you've switched you can't go back. You will also need your serial number and original sales invoice to do it; without those it's a no go.

Yeah, you can get the student version of CS3 Extended for £139.82 inc. VAT from the UK Student Adobe Store.

Besides, if you're on an Intel Mac then CS3 for that price is easily worth it due to it being nice and universal :p

Yep will be used on a new MBP :) Just to confirm, has anyone bought CS3 or CS2 with a student licence? Do I have to be in uni to qualify for it?
