Hey there

So I have ordered a new motherboard off OcUK, a Gigabyte Micro-ATX board, and I was just reading up on the current motherboard in my computer (it's a HP computer, some parts I installed, others are stock from when I got the computer) and the current motherboard is listed as being an ATX one, so basically I have ordered the wrong motherboard (but the thing is, I had read up about the motherboard on this computer before and I forgot it was a normal ATX one). So my question is, will a Micro-ATX board fit this HP case or if it won't, will I be able to return it to OcUK and then get the correct motherboard...

Thanks for your help and time.

If you can move the stand-offs about then you should be ok (they're the little things that the screws go into).

But you'll have to take the old motherboard out to have a look below it. They may be fine as they are.

Actually they are only shorter on one side, cos I was reading about my current mobo and it is 9.6in x 9.6in and then I checked the size of the Micro-ATX one and it said it is 24.4cm x 22.0cm, 24.4cm is 9.6in and 22.0cm is 8.7in. But I just checked the computer and I don't think I will know if they are moveable until I actually uninstall all the current hardware. So I may end up buying a new case if it won't fit.

A microATX motherboard will fit into a standard ATX case. Unless HP have been dicks and shipped their computers with proprietary case fittings and dimensions. Dell used to do that, I don't know if they still do.

What are the chances of my new motherboard actually fitting into this HP Pavilion case? The Pavilion was bought in 2006, so it's a 2006 model, I don't know if that will affect anything, just thought I would add it.
