I overclocked my i7 920 to 3.8 and was running prime95, bout half an hour in computer BSOD
this because of the overclock or prime95? took me a couple of times to get prime95 to work

i put the i7 backt to 3.5, last overclock i done which was stable

thanks!

Look like a unstable overclock, you proberly need to up the vcore another notch or 2 and double check memory timmings.

ran prim95 on 3.5, bsod again, had to put it down to 3.1, running prime 95 again..
whats the reccomended voltage for clocking to 3.8?

okay please help!
pc restarted itself while runnning prim95 at 3.1..
but it back to stock
anyone know why prime95 keeps restarting/bsods my pc

could be your memory, nb volts etc many different factors. See if you can find a profile of someone using similar kit to you and use their settings if you're not sure on what voltages etc.

Try running small fft's this will mainly test your cpu and not other components. See how it does with that.

It isn't that prime 95 is a terrible program written to make computers crash, it's that you have made your computer unstable by overclocking while being "still not too sure about vcores and memory timmings"

Do a little more research, and overclock slowly, getting each step along the way stable, and you'll have a much quicker computer that doesn't crash :)
