All over the world...
Right my sis in law is flying back from India via Jet airways, she then has stop over here in London, then she flies back next day via Air Canada back to Toronto.

Shes texted me to ask if the airline will give her luggage to her when she lands here in London or do they keep a hold of it?? so that it will be sent onto Canada when she flies out next day.

Main reason she wants to know is that she doesnt want to be lugging around luggage when shes making her way over to us. Plus shes got 4 other people coming with her etc.

Anyhow i cant seem to find any info...tried googling but to no avail, ive tried calling Jet airways myself on her behalf but they cant give me any info.

So does anyone know??...its not a huge problem as she could store her and the other 4 peoples luggage in the luggage storage at Heathrow.

Any help would be mucho appreciated.

Thanks.

As it's a stopover, with two different airlines, I can almost guarantee that she'll have to collect her luggage.
I would check with Air Canada and see how far in advance she can check her luggage in for the next flight.

Check with Jet at check-in. Ask them to check it through to Toronto. I'm not 100% sure if it's possible, given it's different airlines, but it might be. She might have to identify the luggage at Heathrow though to confirm to the airline that it belongs to her.

Phoning Jet will be the best option.

When i flew to Bangladesh last year.. My flight was:

Manchester airport to Doha
Doha to Dhakha international Airport

And vice Versa.

Not once i had to pick up my main luggage. And yes both times when i stoped at Doha i did change aircraft. If it helps i used Etihad Airlines.

If it's the same airline, it doesn't matter if you change aircrafts etc. In the OP's case though, he is changing airlines which could change matters.

I'm guessing that you didn't have to pick up your luggage because you were 'in transit'. A 'stopover' is 24+ hours and is treated differently.
