Are the evga gtx 560 sc 1gb(£40) and the xfx hd 6850 1gb(£30-35) pointless buys even for a tie over? I could've brought the gtx or I could probably still buy the Radeon today.

Basically my gtx 750 is gone and was all set to buy a r9 270 more so when I was able to knock off a tenner, but annoyingly something upnexpected gone out my bank so put my budget down and all I can find that's somewhat on par if not better than the 750 are these 2 cards or a 650 1gb for £45 and I'm in need of a card to tie me over.

Needs to play BF4 for testing and crysis, but I will play SWBF, sims 4, project cars, evil within and gta 5 if the copy I got isn't dodgy and the odd other games which shouldn't be demanding if they work.

Thanks for reply.

Yeah I know, just didn't want to end up spending the only money I have for this on stuff that's way too old which would be pointless.

Aha I didn't think to look at the 2012 list, I've been trying to go off the 2014 for what I could afford and could get hold of and the 560 wasn't an option just the ti, but can't find that version shop or private that I can get straight away.

Mean on the bay there's a nice looking xfx R7770 1gb for 45 or best offer with a little longer of a drive for, but the bench shows that as weak compared to the 750.

old Radeon card tend to perform better than old Nvidia cards, but try to get a GCN card, like 7000 series, there is plenty at £50

I have a 1GB 560Ti card in my wife's PC and I noticed the VRAM is a real problem in current games. GTA 5 was a stutterfest! You want something with at least 2GB VRAM in my opinion or you literally won't be able to play some titles without major jerkiness and frame rate drops.

Thanks for replies and inputs, but I went with the 560 sc in the end, I was nearly going for the 6850 for its full size hdmi port, but I figured I use headset so I don't really need Audo over hdmi, so went with the faster one at only a few quid more.

I couldn't stretch any higher than a 7770 and the xfx version I think was I saw that was in good condition and what not was more costly than the 560, plus it would've cost more in deliver or fuel to get it.

If the 7950 I saw wasn't too long I would've snapped that at 45, but oh well this 560 should be a slight improvement over the 750 if reviews are worth anything even if it's nowhere near as improved as the 270 lol, but next time I will save and buy new so I don't compromise.

Until I can get gta 5 working the focus game points are BF, SWBF and project cars, so of this can play them just as well or better then I'll be happy :)

This might sound really stupid, but my power supply has 2 X 6 pin and 1 X 8 pin(2 if you count the 8 pin to split for cpu) and only the 1 6 pin says pcie, now the other 6 and 8 pin are also for graphics correct? I'd hate to plug the one 6 pin in then find the other 6 pin wasn't correct lol , never had so many connections before ha.

I was using a GTX 570 for a while last year (I keep it around as a backup card) and was surprised just how well GTA V ran on that. With the low textures (which admittedly look like garbage) I was able to stay around the 1.25GB VRAM limit, with a lot of other settings turned up to high. It ran really smoothly. Actually, I just found a little collage I made last July to show someone else how well it ran:

Indeed, it never really came close to maxing the core out, but the VRAM limitation prevented me from turning anything else on.

A 570 holds up better than you'd expect really. Of course, it helps that it was paired with a 4790K for the game like GTA V.

You could just wait a bit longer since its the end of the month and pay day coming up. A 270 would be much faster than a 560. I had one and it was great.

If your talking to me then I got the 560 sc earlier and a 270 is what I wanted to replace the 750 with from how big an improvement it would've been, however my budget got like halved from something so I'm havin to make due. But when I bother again I will save and look at a 960 or 380 depending what else comes out over the years.

If you were talking to the other person then yes the 270 would be the better option and look out on the bay because a 270x msi went for £78 yesterday.
