Hi just ordered new pc parts and have ordered an MSI sandybridge ddr3 board. Will my old ddr2 memory work on that motherboard? just so I know whether to keep it for emergencies or not.
Your board type and manufacturer?
Most likely due to it being sandy bridge it will be DDR3 only (i.e no DDR2 slots what so ever) as some boards can use both.
It supports DDR3 memory ONLY, of which the following are compatible: DDR3 1066/1333/1600*/2133* (OC)
DDR2 won't work in the system, and it won't even fit into a DDR3 slot, I say sell it for some easy money.
