Quick Red Steeel Question

Hi All,

Me and my friends are playing 3 player red steel deathmatch and when we get close to each other a symbol of a sword comes up on the screen, and we can't figure out how to bring the sword up.

Does anyone know exactly?

Thrust with the left nunchuck.

Edit: it'll just stab them, won't actually bring a sword up.
