Quick Returns and Packaging Question

I've just got my RMA number for returning the monitor I bought under the 14 day unwanted policy, in which I have to send back everything and receive a refund.

I still have the box and the polystyrene packaging and all that, however I got rid of the little thin plastic bags that the cables come in, as I had to tear them to get into them anyway.

This isn't an issue is it? Should I just put the cables in general household plastic bags that I have in the house?

No but be aware that for most couriers monitors are on there prohibited list

Oh right, never thought of that. Well I was just going to take it down to the local post office, so presumably that will be through Parcel Force? Or Royal Mail parcel? Any idea if they're okay with it?

Nope monitors are on their excluded list, to be honest I'm pretty sure no courier will cover monitors for damage unless you have a specific agreement with them as I imagine companies will.
Some may still cover for an all out loss though.

Hmm, well that's annoying. Do you know of a courier that does take them? Or are you saying Parcelforce/Royal Mail will take it, but won't cover it for damage?

If so, I guess my only option is to wrap it up well with plenty of bubble wrap?

Just lately RM have started asking whats in the parcel so as soon as you say monitor they wont take it.

Are you sure Parcelforce wont take it? It explicitly says on their website that monitors are classed as fragile items, and they only compensate for loss of the package, not for damage on them.

So unless their terms and conditions on their site are wrong, they will take it but just wont insure it for damage.

2 options:

Interlink Direct allow monitors upto 26" inch, I've used them a few times (once for monitor) and they've been great (part of DPD IIRC)

Or use the Customer Service section of the forum and ask if they can collect the monitor through their courier so that its insured and take the shipping charge from your refund amount? (worth asking at least?)
