The top part is dual cariage way which obviosuly is used to overtake and at the bottom is a single carriage way.

Question..the broken lines means it is ok to overtake correct? But who has the right of way? the oncoming dual carriage cars or the single carriage cars ?

Is it just free for all / common sense?

The right of way would be for the cars in dual section ( top )

The dashed lines simply means its allowed for cars in the single lane to overtake if its safe to do so, rather than them being prohibited from overtaking full stop.

First of all "dual carriageway" refers to a road where the traffic in each direction is seperated by a barrier/central reservation (which can have 1 or more lanes in either direction). The road you have posted is single carriageway regardless of how many lanes there are.

Secondly yes you can overtake but cars on the 2 lane side of the road have right of way.

Thought so I got flashed at by a BMW driver for driving on the top road, he was coming down the single carriage way, i looked in my mirror as i passed and he overtook some cars.

So Im questioning if i was right or what !?

thanks

If he was in the single lane and was overtaking and flashed you for being in the middle then yes he was the knob.

Were you overtaking at the time or was your side of the road empty?

If you were overtaking you should have noticed he was there and moved back into your lane, he pays more road tax than you and has a superior car, so he has right of way.
