Hi guys,

I'm thinking about getting this router. Reading a review of it, though, it says this:

Netgear's channel bonding setting appears in the wireless settings as Mode, with a choice of "Up to 54Mb/s", "Up to 145Mb/s" or "Up to 300Mb/s". This is deceptive, as most novice users will logically choose the highest speed rather than the unbonded 145Mb/s option.

I'm a bit confused as to why it's bad to choose the 300mb/s option? The article I read it in suggests it may cause problems with other networks but assuming I don't have one, I don't see what's wrong with the full power. I'm mostly clueless when it comes to networking though so maybe someone can explain.

Thanks,

MD

souns like it uses more than one channel where as unbonded will use a single one i imagine.

some other stuff or your neighbours is likely to be using another channel which could cause issues.

theres an android app that lets you scan for wifi and it shows what channels other peoples are on.

I would guess that the 300mbps speed is only capable through bonded lines where the 145 is single.

Also do you have 2 phone lines?

If your connecting to WiFi with a laptop inSSIDer is ok to check nearby network channels
I find setting 6 or 9 channels the best with WPA2 + aes
