Hi,

My brother is looking at taking a Sky package which includes telephone line rental. As far as I'm aware, Sky LLU is available to him however I have advised him to go with O2 LLU. Just to confirm, if he takes Sky line rental will he still be able to take O2 i.e. Sky won't restrict him to their internet package only?

Many thanks :)

You won't be able to use O2 LLU Internet while using Sky for phone calls/line rental.

You can take Sky without the call package. I'm using the TV and Internet only, phone is with BT. Sky keep trying to persuade me onto Sky Talk but it makes it a bugger to change ISP at a later date.

Oh really. I assume this isn't a technical issue but rather Sky simply don't like other providers on their lines, or vice versa?

Is Sky LLU any good?

Nothing wrong with Sky LLU

been on it since november 09 is the current place and have been connected at 18meg all that time with no downtime or speed issues.

plus its cost like 5 quid for 20 meg when you take line rental..

I can't see the advantage in mixing and matching LLU phone and broadband. Sky base their model around the Satellite TV. When I signed up you had to take the TV service to be eligible for the broadband and phone. I assume this is still the case.

I've been with them for over 3 years. Solid service, good speeds, no shaping/capping on the unlimited service.

Only possible downside for some on here is that you have to use the supplied router. If it offends you that much then use the Sky unit as glorified modem and use an alternative.

That's fair, I recommended O2 because I know them to have a very good LLU service. I've no experience of Sky LLU and O2 works out about the same cost per month, but if Sky are decent enough then it will be proper to have everything on one bill :)

Just go with Sky LLU, it's as good as 02/BE*.

Was on Sky for my first year as a student, BE* for my second, and there was no real difference between the two.

I'd agree with that. I'm with Sky, my mate next door is with Be. Nigh on identical speeds and quality of service.
