Hey all,

Do you have to pay any extra dosh to get sky+ (Upgrading from normal sky subscription). Obviously, you have to pay around £100 for the box and installation, but apart from this, do you pay any extra monthly subscription for it?

Thanks,

Marky

Unlikely, as they're getting no sub off you.

Plus if you're on Freesat (i.e. no sub) you have to pay the Sky+ sub of £10/month. It's better to have the cheapest sub of £15/m which removes the need to have the Sky+ sub - and you get more channels.

Crikey, don't know really.

SkyHD really isn't worth the £10 sub unless you've got all the channels. If you went for it with the basic sub, about all you'd get is Sky One HD. With Sky World, you'd get 2 Movies channels, 3 Sports channels, Discovery, Artsworld and a few others in HD.

You can, however, have the SkyHD box and not the HD sub - you'd still get BBC HD & Channel 4 HD. You can get the Sky+ functionality with the basic sub as with a bog standard Sky+ box, afaik. So that's around £15/m.

You'd probably have to buy the box from an Authorised Sky Agent/other 3rd party for around the £200 mark though, as Sky.com would probably only sell it with the £10 HD sub.
