Just using nlite to slipstream sp3 to my copy of xp. On the actual app it says you should only add the latest service pack to the copy, and it gives an example stating there is no need to add sp1 as sp2 supersedes it.

The question: Will this be the same for sp3, or do I need to add sp2 and then sp3?

Thanks in advance :)

SP3 replaces SP1&2 so no need for either. You might also want to see if there is a rollup package for the updates after SP3.

No!

The Disk Must already have SP1 so there is no need for SP2 before you add SP3

You MUST Have SP1 Already on there Before you add SP3

You can also integrate IE7 and WMP11 f you so wish it have a look on the RyanVM site and MSFN.org for more information.

Why is there a need for sp1? I have a plain old original copy of xp with no service packs on it whatsoever, could I not just integrate sp3 and be done with it?

Edit: if sp2 has all the stuff needed from sp1, then why cant I just put sp2 on, then sp3?

Better to go SP1 then Sp3. thats the recommended way of slipstreaming. Your better to ask the guys on MSFN.org as they do it all the time. And i only do it when i need to (Once every months)

While officially this is true, it has been reported numerous times that it is possible to slipstream SP3 directly into the rtm release, however MS recommend slipstreaming sp1 first. As it's an important program (being an OS) it is probably best to slipstream sp1 first, then sp3 (you don't need sp2). It won't take that much more time and you have the peace of mind.

this is incorrect.

you can slipstream SP3 into a SP0/Gold install, you just can't install it onto one.

then do this

use the ryanvm pack :)

So clear it up for me, which service packs should I integrate. Cant seem to find a download link for sp1 anymore, so would I assume it be ok to slipstream sp2 then sp3?

I made one yesterday with an SP1 disc, sounds like I didn't need to slipstream SP2 and SP3 but it's done now and seems to work fine (tried it in a VM). It's a good little program nLite.
