Hi,

I've got a Asus Striker Extreme and i've been looking at possbly getting a new sound card.

What are people views on the onboard striker card? any good?

Or is it worth getting the Asus or Creative Labs cards etc..

Thanks

Andy

Only the creative or Auzentech prelude cards (with X-FI chips) have EAX 5.0 HD so if you plan to game you really should consider cards from those ranges over other cards from Asus or Razer. Although that's not to say those cards arn't good, they just arn't quite as good in games as the X-Fi based ones.

Oh right.

I've just read there is a problem with Creative cards in Vista.

Is this just for PC's with 4GB of ram?

Its mainly going to be used for music and movies but some gaming as well.

As far as I know the Auzentech is ok in Vista unless you have "more" than 4gb of RAM though don't quote me on that.

It is all down to 4GB RAM i stopped using my X-fi elite pro because of this and am now using a Asus D2 card. If creative ever sort the drivers out i may swap back, but i will never buy another creative, they havent got a clue how to treat customers.
