if i upgrade to a q6600 with ddr2 800 mhz ram will I see a noticeable improvement in gaming performance?

if so, how does the Asus P5K Premium/WiFi-AP Intel P35 or Abit IP35 Pro Motherboard sound?

or would X38 chipset be better?
