Quick spec check before i order!

Guys i have revised my last spec a bit and come up with this, i just have a few questions if i may.

Would you replace any of the components for similar priced ones that perform better? aka harddrive, ram, cpu cooler, motherboard.

Will onboard sound really be okay? Should i be getting the abit pro over this mobo?

Is the PSU overkill or a good buy considering i will liekly upgrade to new 9800 gfx this year, or can i still drop down to the 520?

Would you recommend the samsung 22BW over this ocuk monitor for gaming/general use?

Finally will it all work together please, need to order fast!

Oh yeah, am i missing anything like cables or components to make this work properly? Will it all come included. Already have mouse keyboard and speakers.
 
very nice setup, quuite similar to mine,

monitor will be fine, may want to change it to a ddr and ddr3 future proof board :)

will you be overclocking?

and yes it will all work together, well check the length of the case first ;) that ocuk gtx hard is huge and i mean huge! i have a thermaltake shark case and ended up having to cut bits off for it to fit :)

and yes you will get all the sata cables and power cables with the equipment :)

personal preffernce ... change the drive for a samsung spinpoint :) more reliable and faster :)

Thanks for fast response, i am sure i read that the baraccudas were the fastest HDD bar the raptors? seek time is certainly .4 quicker from the specs on it?

Also do i need the additional CPU cooler as the retail chip will come with one and yes i am looking to overclock.

Not fussed about ddr3 cuz by time i wanna upgrade to that i will get new chip etc anyway.

Anyone with this case and a GTX to tell me if it fits or not? also how loud is this case as my current coolermaster pretorian is near silent and mite just stick to this one. Fancied a change tho.
 
the cpu cooler is rubbish! do not overclock with it, i ran it on my q6600 for about 3 days before rushing off and buying a arctic freezer pro for under 15 quid from OCUK. the stock cooler is weak and rattles a lot, it is also not very well built :P the temprature difference is outstanding.

Also anyone got more input? need to order within 5-10 :|

GTX on those resoloutions, no other way! look in the B Grade section atm on ocuk as they have some very very very very cheap if they haven't already all sold!

the freezer is awesome, my mate down the road is overclocking the same rig i have with a freezer and it keeps it nice and cool :)
its just because the other two look prettier lol.

HDD wise i would go for something with 32mb cache if you don't want to fork out on a raptor.
 
Any other inputs on CPU cooler? Wanna get a good clock on this chip will the freezer cut it or stick to the tower? will the tower and the GTX fit into an antec 900 gamer case? and on that motherboard without hacking away at anything?

Still unsure of gtx over the gt. massive price diff.

Where could i have saved? out of curiosity so can cry into my empty wallet.

a64 3200
1gig wateva ram was around at the time
x1950 pro agp
19" hyundai L90D+
 
ah yeah the reason i didnt opt for the b-grade gtx was simply that i was worried about warranty on it. Already only get 1 years with this ocuk gtx anyway, why i was so tempted to go for a new GTS/GT instead from BFG/EVGA.

Anyone think that was a mistake?
 
it is well known the GTX is still the daddy, the GTX is also much more capable at higher resoloutions. on that screen you should see a 8-10+ fps benefit on games like crysis on high at that res :)
 
Nice setup.

I doubted my GTX buy, but for high resolution, high IQ gaming then the GT and GTS do not have the bandwidth needed in comparison to the GTX so you have made the right choice.

I upgraded from X2 3800 @ 2.8Ghz, 1gb of DDR400 oc'd 466 and a 2900Pro and the you really notice the difference in gaming as well as everytime you encode/unpack/compress/decompress. You will love your new PC. I just got my system last week. Well from about 20FPS in Crysis up to 47FPS is a good indication so far for me :). Also with going from single core to this beast will be a lot more impressive to you as this chip blows my X2 dual core AMD away and my X2 chip blew my single cored AMD CPU away so you've made quite a jump here :D.

G/f's laptop arrives tomorrow too, a vostro 1700. Expensive month for us man but will be worth it i am sure :D
 
I have UT3 here still with the cello on because seemed pointless unwrapping it as would run like a dog on this system. So tempted to install it tonight and have a good blast at it, just so i can experience the change tomorrow :D
