thank you :)

what would you suggest? my budget is about £700, the harddrive was an afterthought, I already have a wd raptor and the space on that is not an issue

considering the price of 1tb drives these days it would be quite a pity to own £700 computer and not include one of those in it...

the hard drive is still tiny imo but that is ofc up to you.
And I do think you are spending a bit too much on that mainboard, considering sk775 is gonna be a dead platform pretty soon.
I'd also replace the vga card with this
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-114-OK
and maybe consider after market cooling rather than spending £60 more on the same card.
I'd get this for the mobo and save myself some money as well.
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-125-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1344

or make an effort and consider am3 and phenom x4 or even i7.

TBH i7 is not yet possible sub £800. That is including OS. If you have an OS or don't mind getting windows 7 RC then it may just be possible, but not with that graphics card (4770 more likely).

My effort for a I7 system, the board has dual Lan.

damn, well i have os, case, and a hard drive i want to keep, would like a nice graphics card though and a lot of ram, i really dunno what to choose!

That takes the I7 spec down to £767.42 with 12gb of RAM instead of 6gb comes to £829.40.

I don't think the P6T has dual LAN.

Edit: For Dual Gigabit on the x58 - this is probably the board to go for. I'll go put a spec together with that in mind.

just buy a pci lan card? :D
I'd definitely pick the phenom instead of of the lga775 quad for more future proofing, ofc if you can afford the i7 then go for it.

the pci ports are kind of at a premium in my build, i have an x-fi soundcard ill be using and would really need to keep a pci spare for a wireless card when im away, but keep suggestions coming as you are all very helpful!

Here is my try:

I included a great CPU cooler on the assumption you want it cool and quiet, with the possibility of overclock available. 6GB should be fine for pretty much all tasks at the moment, but I hear hi res image manipulation on photoshop can use the extra RAM.
