Quick spec check for a mate

A mate of mine was considering buying a prebuilt computer (a certain extra terrestial company) until I showed him what you could get for the same kind of money.

He has about £1000-£1200 to spend and primarily wants to game/photochop etc. and needs a 17inch TFT included. I came up with spec, used the 7900GT as he prefers Nvidia and performance is similar to the ATI counterpart.

Looking good mate, couple things I would recommend:

- Tagan 530W (bit more expensive but really worth it)
- Silver Lian-Li case and black DVD-RW drive will look silly
- Possibly consider an Asus SLi mobo? But that's just more of a personal preference
- Acer AL1717AS 17" (MO-017-AC) has slightly better specs and is only £6 more.

Otherwise, good spec



I won't mention the ATI X1800XT 512MB is cheaper bit

I'll suggest that to him, just that he is not very "technically minded" so talking about the pros and cons of the PSU won't really interest him

He won't be overclocking and I have found Gigabytes to be rock solid when stock

I only added the silver to the basket because the black was out of stock He wants a black case.

Screen sounds like a good idea.
