Afternoon gents,

Building a computer on the cheap for my lil sis who's off to uni the coming week. Was looking for a cheap build but the parts must be from quality brands. So I need your assurances on the following spec from our very own OcUK.

She's on a budget of ~£250, and needs only the components listed below:

Got fans, case all the other gubbins and OS. I tried to make it similar to my own recent new build on purpose, to make the install go much smoother :p

  • So can anyone see any glaring mistakes or incompatibilites?
  • Are the parts all respectable?
  • Anything you would replace and why?
Thank you so so much for any advice. Hell I might even overclock it a tad if she's lucky

Cheers peeps

I'd agree with Billy on the motherboard, drop to something like a 650i ultra and save a tenner. But I'd add that to the E2140 and get a E2160 as well as the remaining amount wouldn't be enough for another 1gb of RAM. I'd also drop the 8400GS and get a HD 2400 Pro, the performance in games isn't far off but it's a lot better with media and it's the same price (£35).
