A friend is trying to beat the cutoff times for Saturday delivery so quick responses welcome

Can anyone see a problem with the following 3 items working together?

Asus P5K Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E2140 "LGA775 Conroe" 1.60GHz (800FSB) - Retail
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8500 1066MHz SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel DDR2

Went for the cheapest Core2Duo due to the impending price cuts, also went with the 1066mhz memory so a E6600 can be used in future, but not sure if it will work with the E2140?.

My advice would be get an e6320 and some Crucial Ballistix 5300 (667mhz ram).

The CPU clocks like a nutter and that ram will do 1000mhz easy.

No need for PC8500 RAM at all. Get some Ballistix PC5300 or cheap PC6400. :)

Then invest in a CPU cooler such as the Noctua

I would agree, the 1066MHz ram is a waste of money when you can get the Ballistix PC5300 which clocks well. You can also get the G. Skill HZ PC6400 which will also do 1066MHz easily with an OC'd c2d.

Stick with the cheapest CPU and get a quad in July 22nd. Or you could wait and save your friend £60 but thats up to him.

Well after pointing him to the thread in the CPU forum about the price cuts he decided to hold off for a few weeks, a wise choice me thinks.
