Hi All,

Been out of the PC World world for over 1 year now so just wanted to check the below spec that I have made for my brother. He's buying all the parts in Australia and the below spec is right on the limit of his budget. Use will be for Uni and gaming. My preference would be a 5850 however it appears that the 5830's are cheeper and perform quite well. From memory the below Mobo is a very good clocker and the 750 should be good for 4Ghz.

Any comments and suggestions welcome...

NB: DVD Drive, Mouse and Keyboard have been intentionally left out of this spec.

Looks fine to me, I should point out though that a 700w psu is double what that system will draw under full load, but I suppose that gives you a lot of room for upgrading

Why are you going for an mTX motherboard and an ATX case??

I would get the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R as it is a very good motherboard for the price:

The Antec Truepower New 650W is also a very good PSU and has 4 PCI-E power connectors too. It has high efficiency and is also made by Seasonic too.

Here is a review of the PSU:

Cat, getting the Gene because it's supposed to be a very good clocker. Thanks for the tip on the Antec power supply.
