Quick noob question.....

Been out of the desktop game for ages. Need someone to suggest replacement parts for the following system:

Asus Nforce4 SLi motherbord
Athlon 3200+
Geofrce 6850 PCI-E or something like that
3gb DDR2 ram

A bundle would help. Cheaper the better. I'm after stability, simplicity, reasonable future proofing and if possible, USB3 functionality.

Cheers guys. Sorry I forgot to say I've got the HDD / CD / case etc

I'm a bit fuzzy on this but basically £ for performance are the Intel CPUs better than the AMD ones?

Also which CPUs run coolest (for HSF noise purposes)?
 
Bang for buck is AMD.

considering the i5 760 is twice the price of the AMD AthlonII X4 640, is it twice as fast? no.
 
OP - do you have an idea of how much you wish to spend, and also what sort of things will you be using the machine for?

P.S. If that's an Asus A8N SLI, 3200 Barton and 6800 pro - that's practically my old system! Awesome it was too. A long time ago.
