Quick stupid question

A very quick one that is a little stupid. Am just building my first PC.

have got the P182 case and Maximus Formula motherboard.

The case only came with 3 brass risers for the mobo..... There screw points on the back of the case are somewhat raised off the back plat (3/8" or so). I was assuming i should then use the brass risers in these to bring the mobo out further, but i'm going to have to go and buy some more risers???

or should i just put the mobo onto the risers on the case? Looking at it it looks like it would fit with nothing touching, but i don't want to make a stupid mistake.

thanks

they are usually extras if needed, motherboard sits on them to raise it up some boards have more holes than others like if going from m-atx to atx.

When you say the wholes rise out the case, you are talking about maybe a millimetre, like a raised indent and yes, the motherboard will touch when you screw it down. How do i know?..

.. I did it once and guess what happens when you power up: The circuit on the motherboard transfers throw the metal case, being highly conductive. Means you have a load of electricity flowing everywhere out of control. If should blow something, but i was lucky. My PC just would'nt boot and shutdown immediately after power on. Stuck with Asus ever since.

And yeh, use the hexagonal risers supplied with case. You usually need around 9 however, though you may get away with 6 if you don't put middle ones in, but this makes the board flex. You won't need washers as the motherboard has non-conductive rings around the screw holes.

:)

Edit: just noticed you said the screwholes on the case backplate were raised like 1cm? Never seen that before, you usually get a little bump of maybe 1mm and thats it.
