Quick stupid question

Just broke my mini displayport to DP connector.

I've been looking around and a lot of them seem to be apple specific for macbooks etc.

Will this work with my card?

It doesn't specifically say whether its passive or active.

Also just wondering,
My actual set up is mini DP to DP (not sure if it's active) and then DP to DVI (which was active)

Could i use a passive mini DP to DP adapter and then plug it into an active DP to DVI adapter??

However i do not have a dp slot on my card, only mini dp.

Not to sound stupid or anything but considering this goes from mini DP to active DP there's no such thing as "passive" or "active" conversion.

. Looks like my cheapest option is to go for mini dp - dp then dp to dvi rather than mini dp to dvi.

I only had that setup because my old card had displayport. My new card came with the adapter and it didn't seem worth buying a new adapter to go from mini dp to dvi.

Now i need a new one, if it was the same price to get a mini dp to dvi adapter then i would do that rather than have two adapters

EDIT:

Sorry to change the question, but would a miniDP to HDMI require a special adapter for conversion?
