When I built my current rig, I had a limited budget so I bought a couple new parts and reused the hard drive and RAM from my old rig. Anyhow, the hard drive recently gave up the ghost so I've been looking in to replacing both parts from the old computer.
This was from my computer "newbie" days where jamming 2 sticks of RAM into the motherboard and loading in to windows successfully was a miracle. Anyhow, the two sticks are a 512mb PC2100 and a 512mb PC2700 - both unbranded and from a high street store which shall go unnamed.
The rest of my rig looks as follows:
Asus A8N-SLi Deluxe
A64 3700+ San Diego
XFX 6800GT
Enermax 600w Noisetaker
So my question is this: would replacing the RAM with a 2gb kit provide a decent boost in performance? Since I'm a student, I spend most of my free time playing games such as WoW, CSS, BF2, Oblivion, etc etc. However, I also have a limited budget of around £120 for the RAM which can be stretched a tiny bit if absolutely necessary.
I'd appreciate all the help and advice from you gurus out there =)
