Quick vista folder/avi view Q

Seemed to of lost the preview view of my video files, how to get it back ?

Window on left (2nd rig) working correctly, main rig (window on the right) no preview

Probably missing something glaringly obvious

Why did you bother blacking out the file names when we can clearly see Heroes.S02E11.HDTV.XviD-LOL?

Anyway i think you have to change the view type.

Hey Kezmo, if you navigate to the toolbar and then to the "View" option, expand the options and select the "Large icons" option.

Large icons just makes the icons large, no preview as in left window.

Hey Kezmo, sorry. If you navigate to the toolbar again and this time expand the "Organize" option. Now go to "Folder and Search Options" and once the window appears click on the "View" tab. Under the "Files and Folders" section make sure that the "Always show icons, never thumbnails" is unchecked.

I am looking a bit of an idiot at the moment, sorry.

If you open up the "Folder and Search Options" again and make sure you are on the "View" tab and then press the "Restore Defaults" button at the bottom. Once you have done that, exit that window and then keep clicking on the "View" option until you it is the way you like. Hopefully that will fix it.

the only diff for me is ive set VLC as a default for my vids but that shouldn't make a difference.

Ok, right click anywhere in the window where your video files are located and select "Properties". Once the "Properties" window has popped up then go to the "Customize" tab and under the "Use this folder as a template", set it to "Pictures and Videos" and then "Apply".

What a silly, anoying problem.

Hey Jimmy1983, all of those options are working for me.

These are my current settings:

The very left window is the "Folder and Search Options" (If you navigate to the toolbar again and this time expand the "Organize" option. Now go to "Folder and Search Options" and once the "Folder Options" window opens up then select the "View" tab)

and the:

Very right window is the "Properties" section. (Right click anywhere in the window where your video files are located and select "Properties", once the "Properties" window has popped up then go to the "Customize" tab)

See if you can emulate exactly as above and hopefully that will work.

In the "Folder Options" window and then the "View" tab, if you don't mind, is their any chance you could post a picture of that specific window please?

The first piccy there you have 'always show icons, never thumbnails' ticked :confused:

I dont know why its not working

would like to see if Kezmo can get it working on his PC

Hey Jimmy1983, if it was ticked, it would then mean it would be displaying as a file type icon as oppsed to a little graphic, still image of the video.

If you make sure it is unchecked, then press apply and finally exit that specific window. Now click on the "View" button until it displays the little graphic image. (If you haven’t already tried this that is)
